I don’t want any excuses. Just, I want you to know it isn’t easy, and I just wanted to share my honest views with you so you get a little help.

When the pandemic started and everything on earth stopped, people like myself who are dealing with weight problems, mental health issues, and all kinds of other issues related to their bodies suddenly had more time to reflect than ever before.

We were able to work out every day, we didn’t have long commutes anymore, there weren’t as many appointments or appointments with doctors due to this reason, and we were able to stop eating because it wasn’t that bad for us to eat anyways. And we could do this at home, right on our own!

All these things came together really fast and it wasn’t until November that we finally hit the end-of-year season and then later in January that it became even better. We had lots of time on our hands with each other, we had more freedom in general, and we had the opportunity to enjoy every second we had to ourselves. It felt good to be able to not feel as though we were chained to the house and had to stay and watch TV all day anymore. And to not have to go outside or to the supermarket or to places we previously couldn’t visit. Not to mention we didn’t have to go in to see some friends because we would never be able to have that kind of social interaction again so this was very important.

One thing that made a huge difference to me and that I think helped a lot of people in similar situations was exercising, or a lack of exercise? Well, just like most people who have weight problems have depression related to stress, anxiety, etc., so too is exercise therapy a huge solution for some people dealing with weight. One study has shown that exercise helps reduce depression in patients with obesity and may even improve the quality of life for those patients. Exercise may also lower your risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, but with all of these different factors, it may take a while for you to start seeing results.

However, sometimes the answer to your weight problem can be found within yourself. If that feeling you have is that you just feel so stuck in your body that it doesn't allow you to do anything in it, well then perhaps starting small will help. Start walking, run, cycle, do yoga, whatever you find you enjoy, and try going somewhere new, doing something fun and challenging, maybe a challenge around the neighborhood, get involved in some school, sports team, meet-up group, join gym groups, or something like that. Something that you may enjoy, and that you can do regularly.

If that's not enough, go for regular checkups and talk to someone about their healthcare history, so if they have mental health concerns or any physical injury I would recommend talking to them about it. They might know of people who have tried different means of making themselves ill to gain weight and so maybe they can give that kind of advice that will help you. You need to look after yourself, you need to be sure you are taking care of your body now and into the future and not putting off a trip to the doctor because you feel like the only way to solve your weight problem is to throw away some pounds.

And that’s it! Now, go ahead and start moving your body today! The best part is that you can keep up with fitness and nutrition, and you can start making it a habit right away if you have the motivation and the willingness to work out, but if you don’t have the motivation and drive yourself then maybe giving up altogether and seeing a dietician is a good option because you may need a special meal plan to make it through the week. Or, you may need the medication or some form of surgery or other treatment that you might not expect or may not want to deal with.

So, go ahead, get started. Take some food and go into the kitchen and cook some healthy meals, make yourself a salad or two, and you're set! Good luck!
